There are two major topics covered in this training. The morning presentation will be concerning an overview of peer support roles, practical strategies for both engaging individuals in crisis, as well as ensuring safety when working alongside law enforcement. In the afternoon, attendees will learn about harm reduction in substance use disorder situations. These combined are 3.5 Peer CE's.
WELLE Verbal Skills training is a crisis intervention model that stresses both pro-active and "in the moment" verbal safety approaches that are appropriately matched to the level of behavior seen in other individuals. This training will teach specific verbal techniques when confronted with the escalating behaviors.

LEAP® (Listen-Empathize-Agree-Partner) is an evidence-based SAMSHA communication tool designed for those working with and caring for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.
