          How to Use the New Oakland Community Health Network Website

          Our goal at OCHN is to enhance and simplify the lives of those we serve, as well as be a valued partner to other service providers throughout Oakland County. As we designed our new website, we kept these priorities at the forefront. Improvements include:

          • Making it easier to find help by organizing services and resources in clear, simple categories
          • Improving navigation so visitors can reach important information in fewer clicks
          • Supporting individuals and families with straightforward language and helpful guidance on where to begin
          • Providing better tools for providers and partners to access resources, forms, and training materials
          • Organizing community information through the new Information Hub and Resource Center
          • Ensuring accessibility and mobile usability so the website works well for all users on any device
          • Keeping information current and easy to maintain so OCHN staff can update content efficiently

          Though we put much effort into simplifying the structure of information, this article is designed to help you navigate our new site as effectively as possible.

           

          Searching

          General site search

          On the top portion of the home page, just beneath the rotating image carousel, there is a search bar. Enter whatever you are looking to find, whether it is information, brochures, forms, If you aren’t sure what to call the information or resource you are looking for, type in whatever words fit what you are trying to achieve, like “Get Help” or “Application Form.” This will bring you to a new page that has filters on the left hand side that will allow you to more easily identify the correct resource or information. With each entry, you will see an alphabetical listing of all of the content that may fit the words you have typed and the filters you have applied.

          If finding the information or resource you were looking for was difficult, please send us an email (link to customer service email) indicating what you were searching for and what you typed in to try to locate the information. Your input will allow us to expand the search definitions and functionality to better assure ease of finding it in the future.

           

          Assisted Search

          When you scroll down a bit on the home page, you will find a “How Can We Help You Today?” section. Though this section was designed to aid first time visitors, it is also intended to simplify frequent visitors who are searching for something they are not sure where to find.

          After selecting the appropriate box for who you are, you will see a variety of categories to select from.

           

          Provider Directory Search

          In the upper right hand corner of the home page, you will find a yellow button labeled, “Provider Directory.” When you click this button, you will be taken to the primary Provider Directory page. Here you will be able to either enter the name of a provider agency or practitioner, or use the filters at the very top (alphabetical) and on the left hand margin to narrow down the selection.

           

          Learning + Training Search

          At the top of the home page is a navigation item entitled “Training & Education.” When you click on that area, you arrive at the Learning + Training Center page. This area houses the live and virtual training classes offered by OCHN, as well as the on-demand training materials that are available.

          There are 3 buttons that appear under the Header and body copy. The third button on the far right takes you to the Calendar of Events. At the top of this page is a search bar where you can enter the specific type of name of the training you are interested in.

          The default view is a list view, but you can change to a calendar view by simply clicking the calendar icon    in the upper right corner, beneath the blue header bar. Both views offer you the same search and filtering options.

           

          Information Hub Search

          The OCHN Information Hub is a comprehensive collection of articles, brochures, forms, web pages and other resource formats. From the homepage of the Information Hub, you can either select from one of the nine categories shown in the modules there, or search for specific content you desire.

          Upon entering your search criteria (one or more words), you will be served a page that has a variety of resources that contain the key word or words you typed in. On the left hand column of this page are filtering options, which are intended to allow you to refine the search to get you more quickly to the desired content.

           

          OCHN Calendar

          The full calendar of events, including board and committee meetings, community events and Learning + Training classes, can be found near the bottom of the “About OCHN” main page, entitled “About Us.” This section shows as a carousel listing of all upcoming events. You can filter for specific types of events by utilizing the buttons that appear in the blue bar above the listing. You can also switch to a calendar view by clicking on the calendar icon located in the far right of the blue bar above the events listing.

          Unique event listings also appear on many of the website pages, already filtered to be relevant to the information on that page.
