This workshop provides an overview of the DLA-20 and practitioner training on how to use it.

          Overview

The Daily Living Assessment (DLA) is a tool that contains 20 daily activities that are affected by behavioral health and disability. This functional assessment helps behavioral health providers determine the measure of an outcome, showing where treatment is needed. The DLA-20 provides a consistent measuring tool for clinicians and examines various aspects of clients’ lives. With this tool, clinicians can observe the behavioral outcomes of treatments and help individuals receiving services lead meaningful and functional lives in society. By conducting an assessment, practitioners can measure treatment outcomes to help manage the behavioral health needs of individuals served.

          Motivational Interviewing (MI) Foundations

Learn evidence-based, widely used skills that result in improved outcomes and lasting behavior change.

          Overview

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a widely used, evidence-based approach in which helpers empower individuals to uncover their own personal reasons for change, grounded in their own values and interests. By learning how to adopt a collaborative stance and viewing both the helper and individual as experts in the process, natural resistance to change can be reduced, leading to improved outcomes and lasting behavior change. MI has been used in a wide array of contexts for more than forty years. Today MI is used by substance use counselors, therapists, case managers, medical professionals, law enforcement, sports coaches, and many others.

Most of us do not know what to say or do when someone we know is having thoughts of suicide. These situations can leave us upset, confused, and concerned about what to do. People trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. Each year thousands of Americans, like you, are saying “Yes” to saving the life of a friend, colleague, family member, or neighbor. Local resources will also be shared.
