LEAP 6/2/26 (In-person)
LEAP® (Listen-Empathize-Agree-Partner) is an evidence-based SAMSHA communication tool designed for those working with and caring for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. LEAP® is for any relationship, but has also been shown to increase adherence to mental health treatment, based on research of Dr. Xavier Amador.
What will I learn?
Skills to help those with severe and persistent mental illness by learning to find common ground and conveying genuine understanding, empathy, and respect for their point of view.
Who Should attend?
- Family caregivers and friends of persons with severe and persistent mental illness
- Anyone working with persons who have severe and persistent mental illness
- Mental health providers, social workers, nurses, case managers, peer counselors
