Affirmations Community Center will provide a comprehensive training and education curriculum focused on key topics, including but not limited to; foundational LGBTQ+ knowledge, clinical competencies, community history, trauma-informed care, and best practices for interventions tailored to LGBTQ+ clients.
Increase cultural competency among behavioral health practitioners within the CMH network through comprehensive training programs. Reduce stigma that LGBTQ+ individuals face when seeking mental health services, creating a more welcoming and supportive environment. Improve clinical outcomes and reduce health disparities for LGBTQ+ individuals accessing mental health services by equipping practitioners with the knowledge and skills needed for affirmative care. Establish network-wide improvements in awareness, advocacy, and anti-stigma initiatives related to the LGBTQ+ community, ensuring that all practitioners actively support inclusive practices.
This in-person training will take place at the OCHN Building located at 5505 Corporate Blvd, Troy, MI. 6 Social Work CEs and 6 MCBAP related CEUs are approved. Please arrive 10 minutes early to register and get settled. Coffee and water is provided. Please feel free to bring your own lunch or you can go to one of the many local restaurants and carry-out places.
