Biography
Dennis G. Cowan has been an Oakland County resident for the past 42 years and is the former Mayor of Royal Oak, serving four consecutive two-year terms. He also served as a Royal Oak City Commissioner for six years. Practicing law for more than three decades, Mr. Cowan is a former managing partner of the Plunkett Cooney Law Firm and currently serves as Co-leader of Plunkett Cooney’s Business Transactions & Planning Practice Group. He volunteers as a legal aid attorney for the Most Holy Trinity Legal Aid Clinic in Detroit.
His personal experiences have empowered Cowan to give back, serving in many public service capacities. These collective life experiences have led him to serve on the Oakland Community Health Network (OCHN) Board to help individuals, and their families, who rely upon the services, programs, and funding of Oakland County’s public behavioral health system.
