DESCRIPTION:The Basic Threat Evaluation and Reporting Course (B-TERC) is a one-day training focusing on a behavioral approach to violence prevention. The B-TERC raises awareness about the risk factors\, triggers and stressors\, and warning behaviors that could impact a person’s decision to commit an act of targeted violence and prepares participants to report and triage threats.\nFurther\, it outlines the mitigating factors that could help prevent acts of targeted violence\, while emphasizing the importance of community involvement in seeking help for individuals\, and respecting their privacy\, civil rights\, and civil liberties. \nMany individuals planning to carry out acts of targeted violence display threatening or potentially concerning behavior. Recognizing these threats or changes in behavior can assist bystanders\, and other members of the community\, in keeping the public safe. The ability to identify potential warning signs and understanding where to seek assistance can help in preventing acts of targeted violence\, including\, but not limited to\, terrorism\, school shootings\, or mass attacks in public spaces. \nThe target audience for the B-TERC includes a variety of multi-disciplinary F/SLTT partners to include those involved in homeland security\, law enforcement\, emergency management\, education\, healthcare\, legal\, and public safety or security. It is preferred that participants have professional experience in the vetting and analysis of tips and leads for the purposes of public safety\, and professional or practitioner experience in BTAM and/or targeted violence prevention. \n  \n6.5 Social Work CE’s
